Every time when a new device comes out, people are complaining about the battery life. It’s always the battery that gets the blame. On one side I do understand that – it is obviously quite frustrating when your battery doesn’t make it the full day – but on the other hand it isn’t something new: you will soon notice that your older phones hold it much longer. XDA People call it as the “NEW GADGET SYNDROME” – the battery drains so quickly because you are intensively using the phone. Everyone wants to play with his new toy, and this will drain the battery very quickly.
I'm writing this post after i personally experienced the same,, I got My HTC Desire 2 months back and i was frustrated by the battery life, I couldn't get One full day out of my Desire...I have searched in many sites and Got tons of suggestion, Even after trying all that Tricks and tips my desire's battery life was not up to my expectations..!!
But now after 2 months I dont now how but the battery lasts for 2 days..!!isn't it a miracle ,,and then i realized it is definitely "NEW GADGET SYNDROME"..!!
Yet there are some things to do about it...
1.I have noticed that the screen is factor number #1 when it comes to battery drain. To do something about this, it is a good idea to put the brightness of your screen down, as low as possible.
2.When bought a new gadget ,,And charging for first time Dont forget charge it for at-least 8hrs,,,this is a very imp tip.
3.Dont drain your battery too much ,,Lithium ion batteries get worse if you drain your batteries too often..!!
4.Always use the genuine chargers that you get directly form the manufacturer.
5.Dont leave your phone to charge more than 3 hrs,,,,as i noticed many people leave their phones charging over nights, this affects the battery a lot ,, i strictly suggest you ,,, don't do this .!!
So, next time when you just bought a new device, don’t worry about the battery. Soon, it will turn out better than you thought at first, and with some small tweaks and reducing the screen brightness, you can almost be assured that you will enjoy your battery life much more!

All good, but new smart phones actually manage the battery charging, slowing the current draw on charge. Then cycling through a slight drain/recharging power cycle. This is the reason why batteries will suddenly drop on unplugging as you have caught it in the cycle. No probs with leaving it plugged in, that's what it's designed for!
